My name is Osamu OKABAYASHI and I assumed the position of the president and representative executive of Lasertec Corporation dated July 1st 2009, succeeding Dr. Yaichiro WATAKABE. Lasertec is a maker of inspection/measurement systems based on the integration of the state-of-the-art electronics, precision mechanics and image processing technologies with the most advanced optics technology that is the core technology of our company. Our business strength lies in the ability to quickly provide solution to needs and desires of the customers worldwide by constantly launching novel inspection and measurement equipments to the market. Today, semiconductor related mask blanks inspection systems and LCD related large photomask inspection systems are highly acclaimed as a de facto standard in each industrial field. We contribute to the progress of society in addition to the progress of the related industry with variety of inspection equipments including these inspection equipments described above.
Currently, the worldwide recession referred to as once a hundred years is in progress and all the industries including semiconductor and LCD related industries that constitute main customers of our company are in the movement of capital investment restraint. Even under such circumstances, customers’ technology advancements that require challenges to new development tasks are perennial and variety of solutions is demanded with strong expectation. Lasertec keeps challenging such kind of demands in the aim to raise visibility of this company.
I believe that this is the time when Lasertec should strongly demonstrate the “Lasertec Character” by concentrating resources to strong points of this company.
